Ugu District Municipality is encouraged by the overwhelming response to the War on Leaks
Project, following its proclamation by Mayor Cllr I.S. Mqadi.

More than 5,000 applications have been received from citizens across the Ugu District,
demonstrating significant interest in this important initiative. To ensure that the recruitment,
assessment and orientation processes are concluded fairly and efficiently, the
commencement date has been revised to 7 September 2026.

The one-week adjustment will allow the Municipality to finalise the process thoroughly while
maintaining the required administrative standards. Successful candidates will still be
contracted for the stipulated 12-month period. Further information will be communicated
once the recruitment process has been finalised.
