The Ugu District Municipality continues to place communities at the heart of service delivery through meaningful engagement with Traditional Leadership and residents across the District.

Today, Ugu District Municipality Mayor, Cllr I.S. Mqadi, together with the leadership of Umdoni Local Municipality, traditional leaders and municipal officials led by Municipal Manager Mr V.O Mazibuko, visited the Emandleni Traditional Court in Ward 4, Umdoni, before proceeding to Isinqawe Community Hall, where they engaged directly with residents on water-related matters affecting the area.

As part of the Municipality’s ongoing commitment to supporting rural communities, Mayor Mqadi officially handed over a static water tank which has been installed at the homestead of Inkosi, strengthening emergency water storage and improving access for surrounding residents while sustainable, long-term water solutions continue to be pursued.

The community is currently supplied through a vula-vala water supply system, complemented by regular water tanker deliveries to ensure communities continue to receive water during periods of supply management.

Addressing residents, Mayor Mqadi reaffirmed that the Municipality remains committed to working hand-in-hand with Traditional Leadership to develop practical and lasting solutions that improve the quality of life for all citizens.

“Strong partnerships with our Traditional Leaders are essential in ensuring that government services reach every household. Together, we are building resilient communities and creating sustainable solutions for generations to come,” said Mayor Mqadi.

The engagement formed part of Ugu’s ongoing programme of taking government to the people—listening, engaging and responding directly to community concerns while strengthening the relationship between local government and Traditional Leadership.
