UGU DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY HOSTS TAKE A CHILD TO WORK DAY
Ugu District Municipality, through its Special Programmes Unit, proudly hosted the annual Take A Child To Work Day, providing learners from across the district with valuable exposure to the world of work and public service.
The initiative afforded learners an opportunity to gain practical insight into various municipal functions through on-the-job learning experiences, career guidance, workplace interaction, and skills development sessions. Learners engaged with officials from different departments, allowing them to better understand the important role local government plays in delivering services and improving communities.
Speaking on the importance of the programme, Municipal Manager Mr Vela O. Mazibuko encouraged learners to remain focused on their studies and embrace opportunities that contribute towards their future growth and development.
“Programmes such as these are important because they expose young people to real working environments and inspire them to dream beyond their current circumstances. As a municipality, we remain committed to investing in the future of our youth and equipping them with knowledge that will assist them in becoming future leaders and professionals,” said Mr Mazibuko.
The programme forms part of the Municipality’s continued commitment to youth empowerment, education, and creating opportunities that inspire future leaders and professionals.
