Isonti Water Pump Station Electrical Panels Stolen
The municipality has assigned a team of electricians to access and source out spares in order to conduct urgent repairs at the Isonti Water Pump Station where electrical panels were found vandalised.On Tuesday this week, upon inspecting the station, engineers found that all electrical cabling had been stolen. Several items such as electrical components, circuit breakers, motor cables, electrical relays, switches and telemetry wires in panels were stolen by unknown culprits. The locks to the pump station had also been broken. As a result, the following areas are currently experiencing water supply disruption:Mistake FarmIsonti High Lying areas supplied by the towerThe deliberate damage to our infrastructure and theft continue to hinder adequate services and adversely increase operational and maintenance costs as well as increase the possibilities of non-revenue. These acts being perpetrated by syndicates in our communities have dire consequences as they also contribute immensely to water supply interruption.Communities are urged to report these criminal acts by contacting their local SAPS on 10111, or anonymously to theUgu Anti-Fraud Hotline on 08001111660(Toll Free) or by emailinginformation@whistleblowing.co.za.
