Ugu District Municipality continues to make significant progress in strengthening its ICT governance and digital transformation journey following the latest SALGA Municipal ICT Governance and Strategy Assessment presented on 01 June 2026.

The Municipality’s ICT maturity score has steadily improved over the years, reaching an impressive 4.49 in 2026. This reflects the positive impact of the Municipality’s 2022–2027 ICT Digital Strategy and the continuous strengthening of ICT governance, operations, and strategic planning.

Ugu District Municipality is now among only three municipalities in KwaZulu-Natal to score within the 4-point range and remains the only District Municipality in the province to achieve this milestone despite operating with one of the lowest ICT budgets among the top performers.

With the provincial average currently at 2.28, these results position Ugu as a benchmark municipality in areas such as application development, business process controls, data architecture, disaster recovery planning, and service level management.

This achievement highlights Ugu District Municipality’s commitment to innovation, good governance, and improved service delivery through digital transformation.
