District Political Command Council intensifies efforts to fight spread of covid-19
Following the extension of the nationwide lockdown by a further two weeks, the District Political Command Council chaired by the District mayor, Cllr Sizwe Ngcobo conducted an intensive assessment of the District lockdown implementation plan during a virtual meeting held on the 16th of April 2020.And as part of the intensification efforts to fight against the spread of covid-19 in the district, the command council outlined measures to be taken to rapidly respond to concerns of the vulnerable groups through the implementation of the social relief program.District MEC champion, honourable Nonhlanhla Khoza encouraged communities to work with Government by complying with the set regulations to ensure that communities remain safe during this period. “This period calls for an extraordinary response from residents to act responsibly by complying with the set regulations as it has become clear that no person is immune from this pandemic.”Members of the District Command Council have over week visited communities across the District in execution of the District COVID19 awareness program led by the MEC Champion together will all mayors in the District.Also conducting compliance assessment of the lockdown protocols especially that pertains to adherence to social distancing and practising safe hygiene.ISSUED BY:UGU DISTRICT COMMUNICATIONS CLUSTERFor more information and media queries contact:Municipal SpokespersonMr France ZamaFrance.Zama@ugu.websitesupport.co.za
