REPAIRS TO MARGATE SEWER INFRASTRUCTURE COMPLETED
Major repairs that were being conducted to the Margate sewer infrastructure have successfully been completed. This follows a huge damage caused by flooding which occurred during April 2024 torrential rains where sewer pipelines were damaged and pump stations submerged in water.
All sewerage lines have been tested and confirmed to be operational with Margate 3A pump station operating at an optimum capacity. The completion of Margate repairs signals a huge relief for the communities and businesses of this area especially since Margate is a tourist attraction of choice in the district.
The recent water sample results being undertaken by environmental health practitioners have indicated compliance with the prescribed limits of the SA water guidelines for recreational use, therefore measures are in motion towards the opening of the Margate beach while regular water sampling continues.
