Ugu offers R300k cash reward for information
The District Mayor, Cllr MA Chiliza has announced that the Municipality is offering a cash reward of R300 000 in exchange for information that will lead to the successful arrest and prosecution of any individual responsible for the vandalism and tampering with the municipal water and sanitation infrastructure during the period when municipal employees affiliated with the union SAMWU embarked on illegal strike action.The Mayor made this declaration at the Stakeholder Engagement Meeting held at the Uvongo Town Hall yesterday. This meeting was to give feedback to the Ugu community, Councillors, community leaders and other stakeholders on the status of water supply in the district and plans going forward to fully resuscitate systems that suffered extensive damage.The Mayor continued to say that the community spirit depicted by the members of the public during the crisis period is acknowledged and appreciated.
