Municipal service delivery App at your fingertips
Through the launch of the new Citizen App platform, residents will now be able to engage the municipality through various channels to improve customer service interaction with the municipality.Most customers today are within arm’s length to a smartphone, whether it is to check messages, follow social media or use helpful apps for work, consumers pay special attention to what’s on their screens. And as the municipality we need to keep up with what the customers want in an easily accessible format.It is against this background that Ugu came up with the idea of the CitiZen App to better manage all water and sanitation service delivery issues in the district. Through the App, customers will be able to report water and sanitation service faults, obtain reference numbers immediately and keep track of these references, view their latest Ugu account balance, view history of the meter readings and much more. This means no more long waiting queue on the Ugu Call Centre line, Citizens now have a smarter option to access services, with no much-added effort.The App is POPI compliant, and all personal information like Id numbers, water account numbers is verified and protected. Another exiting feature of the App is the “Newsfeed and Notification”. This allows you to view all Service messages affecting your area, all you need to do is enlist your address/es under this feature. You may also rate service on the Feedback feature.For the past couple of years, the municipality had experienced huge volume calls through our call centre and wit the introduction of this platform, we are hopefully that interaction with the municipality will be seamless. This experience unveiled various areas that require our most urgent attention of ensuring that we adequately deal with this seemingly recurring service delivery challenge, thus encouraging and enabling our responsible customers to keep their Water accounts up to date.With the Ugu Municipality CitiZen App up and running as of Monday this week, there will be no more waiting in the queue, to get your account balance, or to report Service fault.
